The Luqman Institute is an independent non-sectarian organisation. We promote cooperative relations between diverse minority communities and Public Institutions.

The Institute examines and addresses issues that affect social harmony by facilitating genuine dialogue between minority communities and the Institutions. Through education we enable people to identify and tackle stereotypical barriers that may exist on both sides.

Background

The idea behind the Institute was coined through the collective aspirations of a small group of Muslim professionals including religious scholars. The group's aim was to help the community generally and the youth in particular, to develop a positive approach towards service providing institutions and promote the need to engage in civic participation at all levels.

The young members of the Institute have come through their individual journeys of negotiating key religious, psychological and social challenges faced as second and third generation British Muslims. The formation of Luqman Institute had given these members the opportunity to collectively and objectively explore the Qur'an and address key challenges in relation to their faith and the wider society.

Members of the Luqman Institute work with a variety of British Institutions, Muslim Clerics, leaders of other faiths, the political establishment, education institutions, Muslim youths and many more.
